Terms of Service – 8th Pay Calculator

Terms of Service

These terms set out the basis on which you may use 8thpaycalculator.tech. They are written to be understood rather than to intimidate, and they exist mainly to make clear what this website is and, just as importantly, what it is not.

Last Updated: August 2026

The short version

  • Everything the calculator produces is an estimate based on assumptions you select, not a prediction and not an official figure.
  • This website is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Government of India or any Pay Commission.
  • Nothing here is financial, legal, tax or employment advice.
  • You are responsible for the figures you enter and for checking them before relying on any result.
  • Your actual salary revision may differ substantially from anything shown here.

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using 8thpaycalculator.tech (“this website”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the website.

No account or registration is required to use this site, so your agreement is signalled simply by using it. These terms apply to every visitor, whether you use the calculator once or return regularly.

These terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how information is handled.

Description of the Website

This website provides a free online salary estimation tool, along with explanatory content about how the tool works and what its results mean.

The calculator allows you to enter your current basic pay, pay level, dearness allowance percentage, house rent allowance slab, transport allowance and other allowances, and to select a fitment factor. It then applies straightforward arithmetic to those inputs and displays an estimated revised basic pay, gross salary, in-hand salary and the resulting change.

The website is provided free of charge. There is no paid tier, no subscription and no premium version. It may display advertising, which is what allows it to remain free.

Use of the Calculator

The calculator runs in your own browser. It performs arithmetic on the values you supply and returns a result. It does not verify those values, and it has no way of knowing whether they are correct.

You are responsible for reviewing your inputs. If you enter your gross salary where basic pay is asked for, or mistype a figure, or select the wrong HRA slab, the calculator will produce a result that is arithmetically correct but practically meaningless. Before relying on any output, check that each field contains what it should.

A few points worth keeping in mind:

  • Basic pay means basic pay alone, excluding DA and all allowances.
  • The fitment factor you choose is a scenario you have selected, not a recommended or approved figure.
  • The pay level field is used for labelling your result and does not affect the calculation.
  • Results should be compared against your own pay slip for plausibility before being used for anything.

The calculator is intended for personal, informational use. You may use it as often as you like.

Estimates and Assumptions

This clause matters more than any other on the page, so it is stated plainly.

Every figure produced by this website is an estimate. It represents what the arithmetic gives when a set of assumptions you selected is applied to figures you entered. It is not a prediction, not a forecast, and not a statement about what will happen.

The calculator relies on assumptions that are documented openly on the site, including:

  • That a revised basic pay would be derived by multiplying current basic pay by a fitment factor.
  • That dearness allowance would merge into the revised basic pay and restart from zero.
  • That house rent allowance would be recalculated as a percentage of the revised basic.
  • That transport and other allowances would carry across at their current amounts.
  • That any NPS deduction shown is based on an employee contribution of ten per cent of basic pay plus DA.

These assumptions represent an estimation method adopted by this website for transparency. They are not officially notified rules. At the time of writing, no fitment factor, revised pay matrix or implementation date has been officially announced.

Your actual salary revision may differ substantially from any result shown here. Revised pay may be fixed through a pay matrix with defined cells and rounding rules rather than a flat multiplier; allowance rates may be revised separately; income tax, professional tax and other deductions are not applied by this tool; increments, promotions and arrears are not modelled; and state governments, autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings follow their own rules and timelines.

No Government Affiliation

8th Pay Calculator is an independent informational website and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Government of India or any Pay Commission.

This website has no official standing of any kind. It does not represent, act for, or speak on behalf of the Ministry of Finance, the Department of Expenditure, any Central or State Pay Commission, or any other public authority. We have no access to any government system and no advance knowledge of any decision.

Nothing on this website should be treated as an official communication, notification, circular or announcement. Where we refer to past pay commissions or existing rules, that is general background information, not an official statement of them.

For the official position on any matter relating to pay revision, refer to notifications issued by the relevant government department, and consult your own pay and accounts office.

No Financial or Employment Advice

The content and tools on this website are provided for general informational purposes only. They do not constitute financial, investment, tax, legal, accounting or employment advice, and they are not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your circumstances.

We are not financial advisers, chartered accountants, tax practitioners or legal practitioners, and no advisory relationship is created by your use of this website.

In particular, you should not use results from this calculator as a basis for:

  • Taking on a loan, EMI commitment or other financial obligation.
  • Making tax planning or investment decisions.
  • Deciding whether to accept, decline or resign from a position.
  • Planning around arrears, retirement benefits or pension entitlements.
  • Any other decision with material financial consequences.

Before any decision that matters, speak to your pay and accounts office, and where appropriate a qualified financial or tax professional. They can work from your actual service records; this website cannot.

Accuracy and Availability

We take reasonable care to keep the calculator’s arithmetic correct and the explanatory content accurate and current. We do not, however, warrant that the website is free from errors, omissions or interruptions.

Content may become outdated, particularly if rules or rates change. Calculations may contain errors we have not yet noticed. If you believe you have found a mistake, please tell us — a correction reported is more useful than an error left in place.

The website is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Access may be interrupted for maintenance, hosting issues, technical faults or reasons beyond our control. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the website at any time without prior notice.

Acceptable Use

You may use this website for lawful personal and informational purposes. In using it, you agree not to:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, its server or any connected system.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the website, including through automated requests at a volume that degrades service for others.
  • Introduce malware, or attempt to exploit vulnerabilities in the site.
  • Copy or republish substantial portions of the site’s content as your own.
  • Present results from this calculator as official government figures, or as endorsed by any authority.
  • Use the website in a way that misleads others about what it is or what its results mean.
  • Use the website for any unlawful purpose.

Reasonable personal use, including sharing a printed result with a colleague or linking to a page, is entirely fine and needs no permission.

Intellectual Property

The design, layout, text, code and other original material on this website belong to us, or are used with permission, and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You are welcome to:

  • Read, print and save pages for your own personal reference.
  • Print or save your own calculator results.
  • Link to any page on this website from your own site, blog or social media.
  • Quote a short passage with clear attribution and a link back.

You should not republish substantial portions of the content, copy the calculator or its code for use elsewhere, or present material from this site as your own work, without written permission.

Nothing here claims ownership over publicly available information such as pay matrix structures, allowance rules or government notifications. Those belong to their respective authorities. What is protected is our particular expression, explanation and implementation of that material.

Third-Party Links

This website may contain links to external sites, including government portals, reference material and advertisements served by third parties.

Those links are provided for convenience. They do not imply endorsement of the linked site, its content, its products or its operators. We do not control external sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices.

Once you leave this website, these terms no longer apply. Any dealings you have with a third party, including responding to an advertisement, are strictly between you and that party.

Limitation of Liability

This website is offered free of charge as an informational tool. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website or its calculator.

This includes, without limitation, loss arising from:

  • Reliance on any estimate, figure or explanation provided here.
  • A difference between an estimated figure and an actual salary revision.
  • Errors in figures you entered, or in results produced.
  • Interruption, unavailability or discontinuation of the website.
  • Content on any third-party website reached through a link or advertisement.

Because every result on this website is an estimate produced from assumptions the user selects, it should not be relied upon as a basis for financial commitments. That caution is repeated throughout the site precisely so that no one is taken by surprise by this clause.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud or for anything else that applicable law does not permit us to exclude. If any part of this clause is found unenforceable, the remainder continues to apply.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time — for example if the calculator’s features change, if its assumptions are revised, or if official pay revision rules are eventually published and the tool is updated to reflect them.

When that happens, the revised terms are posted on this page and the “Last Updated” date at the top is changed. Where a change is significant, we will make a reasonable effort to make it noticeable rather than quietly amending the text.

Continued use of the website after an update means you accept the revised terms. If you do not accept them, please stop using the site.
