General Information

The content and tools on 8thpaycalculator.tech are provided for general informational purposes only. They are intended to help visitors explore possible salary scenarios, not to tell anyone what their salary will be.

Nothing on this website constitutes financial, investment, tax, legal, accounting or employment advice. We are not financial advisers, chartered accountants, tax practitioners or legal practitioners, and using this website does not create any advisory or professional relationship.

This site is operated independently. It has no access to any government system, no advance knowledge of any policy decision, and no special standing of any kind.

Salary Estimates

Every figure this calculator produces is an estimate. It is the result of applying arithmetic to values you entered, using assumptions you selected. It is not a prediction, not a forecast, and not a statement about what will happen.

At the time of writing, no fitment factor, revised pay matrix or implementation date has been officially notified for the 8th Central Pay Commission. Any figure circulating publicly today — on this website or anywhere else — is therefore a projection rather than a decision.

Your actual salary will depend on the official rules that are eventually applied, which may differ substantially from the method used here. Revised pay is often fixed through a formal pay matrix with defined cells and rounding rules rather than a flat multiplier, and a figure derived by simple multiplication may not correspond to any real cell in such a matrix.

Do not use these estimates as the basis for financial commitments. Loans, EMI planning, tax planning, investment decisions and similar commitments should be based on your actual pay slip and confirmed entitlements, not on a scenario.

Fitment Factor Assumptions

The fitment factor is the multiplier that drives the entire calculation. It is also the one figure that nobody currently knows.

Estimated Revised Basic = Current Basic Pay × Selected Fitment Factor

This is an estimation method adopted by this website for transparency. It is not an officially notified formula.

The fitment factors offered in the calculator are scenario assumptions, not recommendations. The presets — including 1.92x, 2.00x, 2.57x, 2.86x and 3.00x — are provided so you can compare a range of possibilities. None of them has been approved, announced or endorsed by any authority, and their presence on this site does not suggest that any of them is likely.

Where a figure such as 2.57 is mentioned, that refers to the multiplier used historically by the 7th Central Pay Commission when converting 6th CPC basic pay. It is included as a reference point from the past, not as an indication of what may be used in future.

The custom option exists precisely because the correct value is unknown. If you have read a particular figure somewhere, you can test it here — but testing it does not make it any more likely to be adopted.

A practical suggestion. Rather than treating any single scenario as an answer, run a low, middle and high fitment factor and read the results as a range. The spread between them is a more honest picture of the uncertainty involved than any individual figure.

Allowance Estimates

Allowance calculations can vary considerably from what this tool shows. Allowances are governed by their own rules and are revised through separate government orders, which may or may not accompany a pay revision.

The calculator handles allowances as follows:

How the calculator treats each allowance component
Component Treatment in the calculator Why it may differ in reality
Dearness allowance Assumed to merge into the revised basic pay and restart from zero. The treatment of accumulated DA at the time of any revision is a policy decision that has not been announced.
House rent allowance Recalculated as a percentage of the estimated revised basic, at the slab you select. Slab percentages have been revised in the past and may change again. City classifications can also be reviewed.
Transport allowance Carried across unchanged at the amount you enter. Rates are set by separate orders and vary by pay level and city, and may be revised independently.
Other allowances Carried across unchanged at the amount you enter. Department, cadre and post-specific allowances follow their own rules, and some may be revised, merged or discontinued.

Transport and other allowances are deliberately not multiplied by the fitment factor, because the fitment factor applies to basic pay. Holding them steady keeps the estimate conservative rather than stacking one assumption on top of another — but it also means the figures shown will not reflect any future revision of those allowances.

Allowances specific to particular services, such as those payable to defence personnel, railway staff, medical officers or employees in difficult locations, are not modelled at all.

In-Hand Salary Estimates

The in-hand figure shown by this calculator is gross salary minus the NPS deduction only, and only when that option is switched on. The assumption used is an employee contribution of ten per cent of basic pay plus dearness allowance.

Your actual credited salary will be lower than the figure shown, because the calculator does not apply:

  • Income tax or TDS on salary
  • Professional tax, where your state levies it
  • CGHS or other medical scheme contributions
  • CGEGIS or any group insurance deduction
  • Licence fee for government accommodation
  • Loan, advance or overpayment recoveries
  • Society, association or welfare fund deductions
  • Any department- or cadre-specific deduction

The employer’s contribution to NPS is also not shown, since it does not form part of take-home pay.

The in-hand figure is most useful as a comparison — how much larger one scenario is than another — rather than as a projection of what will reach your bank account.

No Government Affiliation

8th Pay Calculator is an independent informational website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by the Government of India, any Pay Commission, or any government department.

This website does not represent, act for, or speak on behalf of the Ministry of Finance, the Department of Expenditure, any Central or State Pay Commission, or any other public authority. It is not an official portal, and it is not connected to one.

Nothing published here should be treated as an official communication, notification, circular, order or announcement. Where past pay commissions, existing rules or allowance structures are described, that is general background information written in our own words, not an authoritative statement of those rules.

For authoritative information, consult official government notifications issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure or your own department, and speak to your pay and accounts office about anything specific to your service.

No figure on this website is an official 8th CPC figure. If you encounter a claim elsewhere that a particular fitment factor or pay matrix has been “confirmed”, verify it against an official notification before believing it.

Accuracy of Information

We take reasonable care to keep the calculator’s arithmetic correct and the explanatory content accurate. We do not, however, warrant that the website is free from errors or omissions, and we make no claim of accuracy for any estimate it produces.

Content may become outdated, particularly where rates or rules change. Explanations may be incomplete. Calculations may contain errors we have not yet identified.

It is worth restating the distinction: even if the arithmetic is perfectly correct, the result is still only as meaningful as the assumptions behind it — and those assumptions are unconfirmed.

If you believe you have found an error, please tell us. A correction reported is far more useful than a mistake left in place.

Changes to Calculator

The calculator may be modified at any time. Its inputs, presets, assumptions and calculation method may change without prior notice, and features may be added, altered or removed.

If official pay revision rules are eventually published, the calculation method would be revised to reflect what was actually notified, and the explanatory pages would be updated to describe what changed.

Because nothing you enter is saved between visits, a result you obtained previously cannot be reproduced by the site later. A printed or saved result reflects the calculator as it existed at that moment, and may not match what the tool would produce today. If you are comparing results over time, check the date on each one.

We may also suspend or discontinue the website or any part of it at any time.

Where we refer to information published elsewhere, we cannot guarantee that it remains current or that we have represented it correctly. Where an external source is a government notification, that notification is authoritative and our description of it is not. Please verify anything important against the original.

Any dealings you have with a third party, including responding to an advertisement displayed on this site, are strictly between you and that party.

User Responsibility

The calculator performs arithmetic on the values you supply. It does not verify them, and it cannot know whether they are correct.

You are responsible for reviewing your inputs before relying on any result. Common mistakes that produce misleading output include:

  • Entering gross salary or basic-plus-DA where basic pay alone is asked for.
  • Mistyping a figure, or adding or omitting a digit.
  • Selecting an HRA slab that does not apply to your city classification.
  • Entering an out-of-date dearness allowance percentage.
  • Including allowances in more than one field.

You are also responsible for how you use the output. In particular, you should not:

  • Present results from this calculator as official government figures.
  • Share results in a way that suggests they are confirmed or approved.
  • Make financial commitments on the basis of an estimate.

Before any decision that carries real consequences, check with your pay and accounts office, which has access to your service records, and where appropriate consult a qualified financial or tax professional. Use of this website is entirely at your own discretion and risk.
